1. What is the ACTIVE Life Challenge?
In the ACTIVE Life Challenge-Team Challenge, students and staff are encouraged to form teams with their families (staff may also form teams with other staff) to engage in weekly fitness and nutrition challenges together that get them healthy and active. Teams are also exposed to three weekly tips/activities to educate them on Youth InterACTIVE's core messages of how to Eat Healthy, Be ACTIVE and Live with Respect.
At the end of the program, all participants (students, staff, families and champions) will receive a VIP Rewards Card/Lanyard which is used as a discount card for healthy products and services at local retailers. In the Spring, Youth InterACTIVE will be hosting it's annual FREE ACTIVE Life Tour event which will bring communities together around health and fitness activities and serve as an excellent venue to highlight the successes schools who have participated. All participants can also use their VIP Rewards Card/Lanyard to receive special VIP access to certain areas during the event.
2. Are there any rules?
Of course, but just a few!
· Everyone on the team must participate, have FUN and get ACTIVE!
· Teams can join the Challenge up until WEEK 4.
· You must log your progress in your Challenge Log every week
· Student teams must include at least one student and one adult over 18 years of age (can be a parent, relative, or legal guardian). School/Site Staff teams must include at least one school/site staff member (if you are making a team with your family) and 2 school/site staff members (if you are making a team with your co-workers).
3. How do I participate?
Form a team with your family and make sure your school or site is signed up on the activelifechallenge.com website. If it is, talk to your PE teacher or site supervisor about participating and make sure you receive the Challenge/Challenge Log Sheet.
4. What do I get for participating?
In addition to having fun and feeling great, you will receive a cool VIP Rewards Card/Lanyard which is good for discounts at local retailers and restaurants. Also, this VIP Rewards Card/Lanyard will get you special VIP access to the ACTIVE Life Tour Event that is a FREE community wide event occurring in the Spring. Stay tuned for more information about the Tour!
5. Where do I get the Challenge/Challenge Log?
You will talk to your PE teacher or site supervisor about the Challenge/Challenge Log Sheet. This will have all 8 challenges on it and all 8 logs. Don't lose it because you need to keep it for the entire 8 weeks!
7. What if I lose my Challenge/Challenge Log?
Your Challenge of the Week and Challenge Log will be accessible online. You may also ask your PE teacher if they can help you get another copy.
8. If I missed the first Challenge, can I still participate?
Yes! As long as you do at least ONE Challenge before Week 4.
9. What if my school is already participating in another active program?
That is great! The ACTIVE Life Challenge can supplement any other program you are doing!
10. Will the ACTIVE Life Challenge materials be in Spanish also?
Yes, most documents will be in Spanish and there is a Spanish information page on this website. If a document is not in Spanish and you need it, just let us know and we'll get it for you.
11. What if I am participating at school, but I also want to participate in my after school program? Can I do both?
Yes! You can participate in the ACTIVE Life Challenge through your school and after school program.
12. Where will the Tour be located in the Spring?
At this time, where the ACTIVE Life Tour will be held, in Spring, 2009. Once we know, we will post the information on this website and on www.youthinteractive.org.
13. What if I forget my VIP Lanyard at the Tour? Can I still get VIP access?
You need to remember to bring your VIP Rewards Card/Lanyard to the Tour in order to get VIP access.
14. How long is the VIP Rewards Card/Lanyard valid?
The VIP Lanyard Discount Card is good until August, 2009.
15. Where can I find more information about which local retailers and restaurants are providing discounts for me when I use my VIP Rewards Card/Lanyard?
Go to the ACTIVE Reward page on this website to find out more information about which stores and restaurants in your market area are providing discounts.
16. If I want to do the ACTIVE Life Challenge as a staff member, do I do the same challenges as the kids?
Yes. All teams receive the same weekly challenges so that they can talk about their progress together.
17. As the Champion at my school or site, what do I get for participating?
You get a VIP Reward Card and Lanyard for participating as well!
19. Who is the point person for receiving the lanyards?
The Champion at your school is the point person for receiving the lanyards.
